WAYE Small Press ADA Plan

REVISED: FEBRUARY 2026

I. Project Policies

WAYE Small Press is a project led by John T. Trigonis and Marinell Montales. We are committed to implementing ADA practices in service of our community. The project is anticipated to continue in July 2026.

This ADA plan was formally adopted by WAYE Small Press leadership on January 30, 2024. The ADA plan was recently reassessed on February 10, 2026. The ADA coordinator is John T. Trigonis (he/him), and he can be contacted at waye.poetry@gmail.com.

This is the first formal ADA plan formulated by WAYE Small Press. It compiles existing practices and sets benchmarks for the expected completion or addition of further practices. This plan has been publicly available on the project webpage since February 2026. We will assess this plan annually in January and revise as needed. Once updated, the revised version will be made publicly available on the project webpage within 30 days.

Our Grievance Procedure was formally approved by WAYE Small Press leadership on January 30, 2024. It has been publicly available on the project website since July 2024. We will assess this procedure annually in January and revise as needed. Once updated, the revised version will be made publicly available on the project webpage within 30 days.

WAYE Small Press has a non-discrimination statement. It is currently publicly available on the project webpage.

WAYE Small Press leadership has conducted limited self-assessment and received limited access education from 2018 - present. Provided resources are available, we plan to conduct the following thorough self-assessment by December 2026: https://njta-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2022/09/ADA_Self_Assessment_Survey.pdf

If resources are not available, we will develop a plan to obtain the necessary resources and revise the timeline accordingly.

WAYE Small Press solicits feedback from artists and audience members on a range of topics including accessibility and cultural equity.

II. Facilities

By the WAYE (via WAYE Small Press) is primarily a print project and as such does not have a dedicated venue. We plan to hold free public launch events at Andco North. This venue is wheelchair accessible. The main program space is also wheelchair accessible; there are public restrooms with grip bars.

Andco North is located on the second floor of the Swift & Co. building, which has clear signage on the glass window above the entrance approximately 96 inches off the ground. Andco North regularly uses a sandwich board with information about the coworking space; it is approximately 24 inches off the floor. Inside the lobby, there is a circular sign standing 48 inches tall that reads “Andco North 2nd Floor” near the main staircase. There are three elevators for easy accessibility for wheelchairs, and there is always someone at the front desk available to answer questions or point people in the right direction.

The venue has two dedicated curb cuts, one directly in front of the entrance and the other in front of the garage. There are also curb cuts in the sidewalk at either end of the block. There is no accessible van parking area in front of the venue and, based on research, we do not believe the venue is eligible for that improvement.

The venue is two blocks from the Hudson/Bergen Lightrail and a 2-minute walk from the 126 bus stop at Hamilton Park. The surrounding neighborhood has many safe sidewalks with appropriate curb cuts.

III. Marketing

The following accessibility statement and the relevant accessibility symbols will be put on all promotional materials (flyers, ticket links, social media graphics, and event blurbs) for events produced by WAYE Small Press: “WAYE Small Press readings are wheelchair accessible. Assisted listening devices and other accommodations are available with at least 3 weeks’ notice. Please contact waye.poetry@gmail.com to request accommodations.”

The project website was built on SquareSpace which has built-in features for accessibility. By July 2025, we will initiate research into additional accessibility features, and by January 2026 will develop a timeline and budget for enabling the full scope of accessibility features available through SquareSpace.

Since February 2025, we have added some accessibility features, namely alt. text, captioned videos, and image descriptions, to many of WAYE Small Press’s social media posts.

IV. Programming

Virtual programming will be available on a limited basis, particularly occasional livestreams of readings via Instagram. Auto captioning is not currently available for Instagram Live, but we will utilize the closed caption feature for existing video clips by request; captioned videos will be available within 30 days.

Key program materials will be offered online through the project’s webpage. We will continue making materials available online when appropriate.

Large print and Braille books are not available, and there is no print material associated with readings. Verbal descriptions and audio tours of live events are not currently available.

Audio versions of books are available by request, and will be available within 90 days.

Assisted listening devices are available by request with at least 3 weeks notice. ASL interpretation is available by request with at least 60 days notice and sufficient available resources.

Americans with Disabilities Act Grievance Procedure

WAYE Small Press is committed to accessibility and inclusivity in all the public programming presented by our project. This Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”). It may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by WAYE Small Press.

Complaints concerning discrimination on the basis of disability by WAYE Small Press may be sent to John T. Trigonis, ADA Coordinator at WAYE Small Press: waye.poetry@gmail.com.

WAYE Small Press will contact the complainant within 15 calendar days after receipt of the complaint to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions.

Within 15 calendar days after the meeting, the ADA Coordinator, or designee, will respond in writing, and, where appropriate, in a format accessible to the complainant, with a final resolution of the complaint.

All written complaints received by the ADA Coordinator, or designee, appeals to the Founder, or designee, and responses from these two offices will be retained by WAYE Small Press for at least three years.
